GOLDEN AGE POETRY |
For a start, we are still in need of reliable publications from the most representative poets. Secondly, the classification of authors by group and school, still depends on the scholars´ point of view, to which they don´t always agree. Not even the writers who divided their literary works between the 16th and 17th centuries have remained perfectly placed. There are authors such as Cervantes or Vicente Espinel who are vaguely included in one century or the other. For this reason, our approach will be to offer a simple panorama of this epoch. We respect the division between the 16th century – Renaissance – and the 17th centuy – Baroque. We shall try to simplify the list of authors in each section, in such a way that there are no names left separate to form an individual group. Consequently, we have added subheadings such as “other poets”, “poetry of his time” or “other voices” to give coherence to the range of topics we present: four in each century. We trust that this overview will be useful and practical for those interested in our Golden Centuries poetry.
