A la vez que empieza a realizar litografías con evidente entusiasmo, Picasso realiza obras de tema clásico, fundamentalmente bodegones. En estas obras vuelve a aparecer el color, con tonalidades más básicas contrastadas. Las luces dividen drásticamente el cuadro en dos partes, la superior iluminada y la inferior de sombra.
